Ted Spehar was one of a small handful of Chrysler's "outside developers" for the Mopar drag racing program. The "Motown Missile" was another thinly disguised Chrysler sponsored race car. The Missile was a rolling test lab for newly developed parts for other Chrysler supported teams, such as Sox & Martin and a few others.
All of the “Motown Missile” and the later “Mopar Missile” cars were exceptionally well prepared and sorted out before the team arrived at the track. They were so ready to race and ran so well that many racers “just knew” that they “had to be” cheating... SOMEHOW.
