In 1968 drag racers Dave Hough and Ed Moore ran the NANOOK AA/Fuel Altered with a big-block Olds, later switching to a blown hemi engine. The switch to the Hemi made the NANOOK one of the fastest cars in its class. According to Ed Moore, the name “NANOOK” came from the Eskimo-like look his girlfriend’s fur coat.
By the early ‘70s the NANOOK was running low 7s at over 200 mph.
